“While some may not be bothered by this, there are many Texans with religious or moral beliefs that would oppose consumption or use of these products.”
Wow, no words. Bob Hall must have eaten a heck of a lot of paint chips as a kid.
Kind of a huge gulf between “food that contains aborted human fetuses” and “medicine that is the product of research that used such tissue”, innit…? 'Course, he wouldn’t be getting headlines if he was just mumbling about the latter.
On the plus side, it should be relatively easy to identify things that don’t need the label…
Can’t help but think this bill is specifically designed to formally codify the term “aborted unborn child” into law so that other yet to be determined laws can use it as a precedence for further restricting abortion access.
As always, it’s important to note that underlying this lunatic’s claim and others like it (e.g. Qanon’s “adrenochrome harvesting” theory) is the same old warmed-over Blood Libel.
This was tried in 2012 in Oklahoma when they thought a food additive company was using HEK 293 to develop artificial taste receptors for taste testing.
This is an interesting read but my 30 second Google search says it’s mostly bunk.
Can someone tell him that all aborted baby food stuffs already voluntarily label themselves as such? 100% of them.
You know security theatre? This is governance theatre.

The lifeblood of the gQp.
Shouldn’t this guy have a label?
I think “Obvious Plant” needs to do a Viagra packet that warns, “contains aborted human fetuses”. I need to see that
After solving this I hope he can do something about poor Prince Albert stuck in that can.
“They” in this case was some gaggle of fetus-lickers who came up with the HEK-293 bullshit to get more donations out of the rubes.
Various proto-QAnon fucksticks revive the story from time to time, because, hey, grifters gotta grift.
Here’s a Snopes piece (alas, buying the fetus-fetishists’ framing that they are “pro-life” rather than “force-birth”).
Honestly, you make one modest proposal and suddenly the politicians are trying to ban everything.
