Pretty much. I have no problem with shutting down gun porn wherever it exists. Fuck guns.
It’s a silly rule, IMO, but then it begs the question on who is getting paid to be an influencer, and who is just posing with their guns. I guess if they can prove the former, they would need to suspend them per the rules.
What about artwork or photos for something like Call of Duty. They are advertising a game, not the guns, even though the game uses guns.
This is true for a lot of other things besides guns on instagram, but IIRC they don’t have the same rules for things like make up. (Though with the irrevocable harm society places on people to look their best, maybe they should. )
It’s like Sailor Moon for small weens
I agree, the web they helped weave is mighty tangled. But the fact remains, they would make money if they allowed gun ads on the platform, and they still make money by banning the ads while allowing the “influencers” to do their thing; and then they can point to the ad ban and say, “Hey! We tried, but what can we do?! This is too complex now. Bummer.”
And yeah, where does the disallowing of guns stop? Pictures of fake guns? Drawings of guns? The word “gun”?
If I had an answer for that, I wouldn’t be making the crappy salary I am now.
Japan also has some of the strictest gun control laws in the developed world. So there is a “forbidden fruit” aspect there, going along with the usual penchant for obsessive fandom.
Gunslinger Girl has the added measure of squick, appealing to pedphile interests since the girls involved are pre-teens. The work is actually pretty grim. There were a lot of better choices for an example of what you were aiming for. This one was a bit, ewwww
Well I think they have an aesthetic for detail. Even in futuristic settings where the weapons and machines are made up, they are very detailed and look possible, usually.
Per your second point, it is a grim story line, but discussing Japanese media that is problematic is a whole 'nother thread.
This is usually the function of a gun, so.
That and bottle opener and penis substitute.
Slightly OT, I met the voice actor for Krieger (Lucky Yates) and he is a delight. I already blew my comiccon funds and was hanging out with a friend who was getting an autograph. He not only signed a print, but drew a custom drawing for each person, and gave everyone, even me, a sticker.
Technically, it’s the holes the bullets leave that kill people. Technically.
Is it? I thought it was the torn-up organs and/or blood loss. Technically.
Well, technically, it’s the cardiac arrest resulting from the torn-up organs and/or blood loss from the holes left by the little pieces of metal that come out of guns very fast that kills people. Technically.
Well yeah, that and the sudden, shocking reminder of how stupid easy it is to get guns in this country.
