A historical piece of evidence? Yeah, right.
I hope they have that attitude towards schools having the Kama Sutra in their libraries as well.
Once again, where is that facepalm emoji!?!?!
Stupid, stupid, stupid. Sooooo fucking stupid.
Someone needs to go to the school board meeting and read a few choice passages out loud.
Any of these would do
This is what I was hoping to hear about. Even though the chances of the bible-thumping kids seeing the hypocrisy are slim to none, at least there’s hope for some dim monkey awareness that there are people in the world who think differently than they do, and that their stupid actions have consequences to people they care about.
Great work!
The version of the Bible that was deemed appropriate likely was influenced by the King James version that was codified in 1611. Unedited versions of Shakespeare’s plays of the same vintage are banned. Different criteria for “historical” significance I guess…
has a list of 19 books including
All Boys Aren’t Blue by George M Johnson: Retain in High School Libraries Only
The Black Flamingo by Dean Atta: Retain in High School Libraries Only
etc etc
it also notes
Flamer will be removed from all school libraries.
So it’s hypocrisy, not principle that guides most of the decisions.
Wow. Florida schools must be absolute shite if a high school junior is this ignorant of the nature of the Bible. Also, I left off the kid’s name because she’s probably going to live to regret giving this interview.
Genesis 19:30-38 is another shockingly inappropriate passage
Ezekiel 23:20
Maybe we could just not pick any?
FFS!
So when I was a kid, my parents had an old school illustrated Bible, I am guessing from the 40s or 50s? I am guessing it was one of theirs from they were a kid (I am heading home this weekend maybe I can check the date.)
It had old school engraving in them some really cool ones. But there were some images in there that as young kid disturbed me. I can think specifically of Abraham and Issac.
Seriously, the Old Testament has some pretty fucked up stuff in it.
