Organizers of the art and cultural festival Burning Man and several environmental groups have filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) over the agency’s approval of a geothermal exploration project in northwestern Nevada.
Owww!
I can feel that from here.
This really makes me wonder how commonly presidents inadvertently take classified documents home. My real issue here is that this will be treated as “equivalent to” Trumps issues, despite the fact that Biden made no effort to retain these, nor denied having them. And in fact, his lawyers contacted the proper folks upon discovery. No comparison at all. Not the Faux “News” idiots will mention that.
Presidents, Vice Presidents, Senators, Congressmen, Legislative Directors, Staffers…
Clearly there is a wide misunderstanding of how to treat classified information on the Hill or perhaps a complete disregard for it. Seems that DC is a leaky bucket of intel.
What’s with all this emphasis on paper documents? I’d guess at least 98% of federal info now flies around electronically. Is Big Paper in on this?
Probably pretty, actually. I will again point out the sheer amount of information generated by an administration, and how much paper work that will include. And again, I’ll point out just how very different this is from what Trump did by literally stealing documents from the American people and then refusing to return them when explicitly asked for them.
I wouldn’t. I think people are aware of how much more porous digital communication is, and so stuff that is classified is still often on paper.
This. I wish more folks would get that (especially the press). Beau also sums it up pretty well here:
Indeed! Trump got a ton of chances to turn that shit over, and he did not. They had to literally raid his place to get them. And here, the documents are being handed over when they are found.
But both sides are bad, so… /s
ETA: Also…
It’s funny how that works. I’ve had some truly epic hangovers from Scotch, Rye, Rum, and Vodka but still indulge in those. But the one I got from Apple Cider when I was 14 or so turned me off of it forever.
And even more, when the first group of documents were found, they proactively searched for more in order to return and report them.
To use the speeding analogy, Biden and his lawyers not only drove to the police station to report themselves for going 10 over and paying the ticket without even being ticketed; they reviewed Biden’s dashcam footage and reported that he rolled through a stopsign once, provided the evidence, and paid that fine before he was issued a ticket, too.
But BOTH SIDES!!! /s
If the docs were stored properly, controlled locked safe etc., Joe is probably going to be just fine. If not, he efffed up regardless of how nice he’s playing.
TS car buffing?

This has the potential to be a huge deal. Anyone who has ever had to go into forbearance or missed payments knows that having that interest added to the balance is crippling. Before it was able to get my loans forgiven through the expansion of the public loan forgiveness program, large portion of the money I owed was only interest.
ETA: I hope this survives and that the Biden administration takes the next step in putting a cap on how much interest can be charged. No more market rate, like half the market rate, or a third of the market rate. Just enough to keep a loan servicer in business but not enough to allow them to make a huge profit
Beyond considering how many of those documents any POTUS is required to review, wasn’t the main difference what was done with the information? Losing track of something is not the same as leaking something. The former should be corrected with better controls/procedures. The latter involves charges and legal penalties.
