Very nice, @beschizza , but what about security features? Are there any theft deterrents for when you’re stuck in a line or on the subway with pickpocket gangs, like the “big bag” (or jackets, or newspapers) people I see on social media?

The theft deterrent is that you have to carefully lay down the giant plastic box on the ground and open it like a chest, to get the slightest thing from it.

We use things like those for transporting equipment on field trips, including our GNNS - WAAS gear. Pelicase and the likes. One thing about them is that no-one else at a transport hub uses them, so they stand out. Pickpocket and grifters wouldn’t want to try to walk off with them because they stand out. They don’t give a shit about clamshell design, methinks.

One bad thing about them is that they hurt as hell if you hit your knee against the rim. Otherwise, these are also perfect for keeping food in while being on a short campaign.

For longer trips, I used Zarges boxes. There’s a trolley system to attach to these. Really helpful when doing a stopover and you have to catch your connecting flight. Also, even more practical for air freight, since they take abuse with a dent, but so not break.
