I really think of the Chipmunks work more as “post-punk.”

Chipmunk Punk was their best album, full of covers by such hardcore bands as Tom Petty and Billy Joel.

Worst audience ever.

I had the Chipmunk Punk album. I always skipped the needle over the Billy Joel covers.

I always had trouble understanding The Chipmunks. Case in point: on this track The Knack originally sang Til she’s sitting on your face, whereas with The Chipmunks it sounds more like Til she’s sitting in your place.

The single version of the song was edited for radio and used 'til she puts you in your place, while the album version was 'til she’s sitting on your face.

Kind of like Steve Miller’s “Jet Airliner”. The album version had I don’t want to get caught up in any of that funky shit goin’ down in the city, while the single/radio version used that funky kicks.

Good idea. I’ve been known to skip the needle over entire Billy Joel albums.
