More like malicious incompetence: All that data is potentially worth a lot to spies, blackmailers, advertisers…there’s no way sneaky fucks like this don’t know this, and didn’t “Accidentally” leave a door open for unseen partners.

“Spyfone” doesn’t sound like the name of a reputable company.

That’s got to be a fun conversation the parents who used that service to have with their teens in the future.

“I’m sorry you got doxxed and those embarrassing selfies got out honey, but we were much more worried that you might’ve been smoking weed.”

Seems more like by design. The real purpose of the company was to gather data and sell it on the sly.

Or, just as llikely, I’m sorry you got doxxed and those embarrassing selfies got out honey, but we were just so worried that you might be taking embarrassing selfies that we thought would ruin your life if they got out.

Spyfone? more like SocialMediaFone…

The phone that shares for you!

The data they were lifting wasn’t protected? Oh noooo! What a crazy random happenstance!
