I watched more Riverdale than I should have, and I still feel dirty about every episode that I watched, but it’s sad to see that there’s now one less show to watch while tripping balls…or even when not tripping balls because it makes so little difference.

Archie
as a person of a certain age, when someone says Archie, this is what springs to mind. warts and all it was fun to read those, back in the day.

Aw. All of those 30-year-old teenagers are going to have to find some other place to gratuitously take off their shirts.

Are there any uncancelled shows left on the CW? Are they just shutting down completely or planning on moving into all-reality TV?

It’s cheaper to produce 37 different varieties of 90 day fiancé.

7 Seasons and over 100 episodes is a good run. Now its syndication-sized (not that it makes any difference in the modern streaming environment)

They were always a bit more adult than they let on

I never watched Riverdale; aside from SPN* most CW shows just don’t hold my attention.

*For the first 5 seasons, anyway. After that, it got pretty ridiculous.

Never seen an episode. Did I miss anything?

I’m only about half-way through that video, and I think Joe Biden may have to authorize the immediate release of 6 million barrels of What the Fuck from the National Strategic What the Fuck Reserve.

Because in the annals of What the Fuckery, that show clearly pegs the What the Fuckometer at a never-before-seen and possibly-unsurvivable level.

Sad to lose Legends of Tomorrow, the only Arrowverse show left that was any damn fun.

Though I do kinda love that this means it ended Holy Grail-style with everybody being arrested.

Never watched Riverdale but from the video it looks like it was trying to become Buffy the Vampire Slayer II ? Looked at through that lens, none of the things shown on screen are all that weird for a teen show.

My uncle gave us a box of old comics that was maybe 30% Archie, so I similarly am taken back to that place when thinking of Archie. To me, Archie is vibrant, positive, and fun. It’s something they managed to translate into more modern storytelling in the reboot several years ago and even managed to keep through the “Death of Archie” storyline several more years before that.

I tried Riverdale. Too dark, too sexy, too much. For me, anyway. But I support the idea of a teen drama that wears its Buffy and Twin Peaks influences on its sleeves even if it’s ultimately not something I’ll carve out the time to watch. They’ve got a talented cast and the creative team is actually allowed to just go for it, no matter what “it” is. And now they’re free to get involved in other projects.
