Slightly OT, but does anybody know the origin of the “solid black eyes mean evil” trope?
My unsupported hypothesis for the basic idea, if not the actual execution, is the Nietzsche quote:
Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster… for when you gaze long into the abyss. The abyss gazes also into you."
DONNIE DARKO: “Why do you wear that stupid bunny suit?”
FRANK: “Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?”
Original means the oldest one. From 2006. Does that make sense?
