The continuous and shameless gaslighting around the 2016 election that the Clintonite/DNC faction has engaged in for the last two years has been truly astonishing to watch.
completely agreed. I am fairly liberal and I work in Machining. I am basically in the shark’s den everyday politically and religiously (I’m not religious at all)
The one thing I’ve heard more than enough was your point, from many people I have talked with which tells me you are right. A lot of them did not like Trump but they hated Hillary with a white hot burning passion.
That being said the full on MAGA people are plenty represented in my industry too.
I think in large part a lot of what makes me want to start my own shop is simply the fact that I wouldn’t have to suffer these insufferable assholes anymore
I keep seeing “I wish he would support other candidates instead of being one.” Well, in 2016 he threw his support behind Hillary Clinton and look what that got us. Do you want a Trump in the White House? Because that’s how we get a Trump in the White House.
I’d rather he run, and if any others can run against him on the same platform, good, more options that aren’t just ‘bad or worse’. If they’re really close enough conceptually (unlike with Clinton), then whichever one wins the primaries should be able to get the others’ votes in the secondaries.
He did that because she was the Dem nominee, after she won the primary (with the connivance of the less-than-neutral DNC). I’m not going to blame Sanders for her campaign’s epic screw-ups or for her smug complacency and tone-deafness.
One thing I’m grateful for is that Clinton decided not to run again this cycle, if only because it will reduce the number of tiresome 2016 re-litigation topics like this by half.
At this point, he has the clout and track record and organisation to continue pushing the party and the platform to the left without running himself. He already did more than his share of good in 2016 and doesn’t owe us another run. There are more than enough candidates who are willing to accept his mentorship, advice and support.
i think that’s gotta be some BS. I mean, they’ve created this scenario where right wingers ONLY watch fox. Whereas your average person on the left watches CNN and/or a mix of other channels and media to get news or don’t watch cable at all (like young cable cutters especially). So i take that Fox rating thing with an enormous grain of salt.
Oh they absolutely are a dishonest and disreputable right-wing propaganda organ. But sadly, they’re a dishonest and disreputable right-wing propaganda organ that millions upon millions of voters BELIEVE.
You just did when you called them “dishonest”. That millions of gullible and ignorant fools believe them doesn’t make them a source worthy of quoting to support one’s own point.
Perhaps your intent was to say “this is the garbage that Fox is selling to the rubes”, but you didn’t frame it that way.
My point is, their propaganda works and that’s the kind of propaganda they’ll throw at Bernie. And that there are reams and reams of ammunition against him. How many women do you think will be dying to vote for Sanders when Fox runs his rape fantasy writing as the first story of the night for 11 straight months?
It doesn’t matter if it’s Sanders who’s running. They’d throw their dishonest garbage at Jesus Christ if he returned and ran as a Dem in 2020. It’s also not a secret that they have a big audience of suckers.
We all know that Fox News is gonna be Fox News – what’s more important is that the Dems take a lesson from Ocasio-Cortez and learn how to counter their BS effectively. Step one is making it clear that they think it’s a disreputable and dishonest right-wing propaganda organ that isn’t worthy of a serious person’s time or attention.
True. Which is why I personally think Bernie is such a poor candidate.
He can’t counter his rape fantasy writings. He could counter his failure to release his taxes, but doesn’t seem willing to. His lack of legislative record is hard to counter. And those are just the legit attacks from the right.
On the left, in the primary, he’ll have to fight his gun record, his failure to vote for Russian sanctions, his support of the Afghan war and more.
Sadly, he’s no AOC when it comes to fighting back.
I just saw Bernie at a rally in Iowa City last friday. His speech was filled with real substance (not fear mongering or Dem bashing at ALL), and the crowd LOVED it. This is after all a popularity contest. People like Bernie. Of course we are early in this campaign. A lot can change. Maybe another star will rise. I’m gonna back any Democrat who comes out on top in the primaries, but I think his likability is a huge part of this.
