personally i find the constant questioning of one of our first serious jewish presidential candidates loyalty a little weird and tone deaf. i think we’ve had enough white, christian presidents and maybe it’s time for a change.
The eminently electable Bernie Sanders enjoys strong support from African-Americans and young people
Sanders/Warren or Sanders/Beto . The Republicans seem to be unusually worried about Beto. I don’t quite understand why they’re on the attack against Beto so much over Bernie Sanders or Warren. It definitely makes me think that if republicans shake in their boots at the sight of Beto, he’s probably a worthy VP, if not when he enters a worthy Presidential Candidate.
So he should get a pass because he’s Jewish???
So you’re insinuating Harris is a Trump toadie who he donated to because she wanted a quo from her quid of not prosecuting Mnuchin???
In summary: There were 8 potential civil cases against Mnuchin–with insufficient evidence.
Instead of wasting limited resources on a civil case with little merit against one guy"…she got an additional 2 billion (in addition to 18.4) in direct assistance to CA victims of home foreclosure…and authored the ENTIRE fucking CA Homeowner’s Bill of Rights, making the dual tracking practice illegal, which was how OneWest (SteveMnuchin) was cheating homeowners in the first place"
A pass on what exactly? Having new ideas instead of pushing Clintonian neoliberalism? Not using the broken economy to wedge division between races but instead lobbying for policies that will fix the underlying issues in our economy - namely a billionaire class that feels it is above the law? Not wanting to jump start the economy with yet another “short” war, once again chasing the dragon like they have been every since the first cruise missiles lit up the night in Kuwait?
Why is it only inspiring when underrepresented groups push for war, inequality, and ever increasing surveillance?
Any candidate for President should be able to handle any and all questions the American people want to ask.
And if you think Bernie isn’t for a “short” war, you might want to familiarize yourself with his votes for the Afghanistan war and the Syrian conflict.
I said I did not like his loyalty was being questioned. Please don’t twist that into me saying people can’t raise valid points on their policies.
I never once questioned his loyalty. But building straw men is fun!
Hi,
Where are you getting your facts with regards to African-American voters supporting Bernie Sanders? I do not show this to be true in the African American community. I am not planning on voting for Bernie Sanders if he wins the nomination. Mr. Sanders track record and voting past gives me reason to not support him.
You know, I think Biden is going to run, and specifically because of this kind of poll that shows he has the strongest support from African American voters.
(I still don’t think the poll tells us what’s likely to happen.)
Welcome to bOINGbOING, comrade!
Whereas Trump’s track record with the African American community is beyond reproach.
Just ask Kanye!
Yeah, this. If – and despite what some folks on BB want you to think, it’s a big “if”, and not “when” – Bernie Sanders becomes the Democratic nominee, then people should turn out and go vote for him. Even the worst Democratic would-be candidate (I think that’s Tulsi Gabbard, at the moment?) would be worlds better than Trump, if for nothing else then for getting the executive branch out of the Republicans’ hands.
Welcome to Boing Boing. @doctorow posted this link earlier you may find interesting:
A lot needs to play out before anointing any candidate as the chosen one to take on Trump (or Pence, in case of impeachment). What I would ask (as many others seem to be asking) is that we allow that process to play out. NONE of the candidates are perfect. It gets really irritating, and makes me less of a fan of Bernie (even though it’s none of his doing) when his followers announce his obvious superiority and decry the obvious failings of every other candidate.
I like Bernie’s economic policies very much. But I’m also a fan of Warren’s. His social policies are a mixed bag. He’s probably one of the weakest candidates in that regard, and that’s important to me. His age is a factor. It’s not the only factor, but to pretend it isn’t one is delusional. If he wins the nomination, the selection of his running mate is absolutely critical. It would probably go a long way to covering some of his blind spots if, in the event, he picks either a POC or a woman.
I don’t think the poll is anything more than name recognition, but if people insist on pushing it, why is it in terms of “See, he came in second. That’s waaaaay better than third.”
The only potential candidate who polled better with African-Americans than Sanders, according to the poll by Morning Consult, is former Vice President Joe Biden…
But what polls suggest that Mr. Sanders has strong support among African Americans. I do not show it in the African American community based on this voting record and relationships with African Americans. A lot of people in the AA are on the fence with the Democratic party. They have swung to far left and liberal. There has been a lot of benign neglect of the community as well. I am not voting for him. Many share my view in the AA community. He will not win. I do not think he is serious. He knows he is not going to win.
So, your opinion is that most African Americans prefer candidates with a conservative agenda unfavorable to African Americans?
