Thanks for providing. It is a small sample to assume Mr. Sanders will get the AA vote. He has not seen as someone with a strong track record with regards to his votes and ties to the AA community. People are not going to vote for him because of Mr. Trump. This did not work with Hilary Clinton. We need tangible policies. Democrats have swung to the left with regards to their liberal policies. Many AA no longer support them and are Independent. I am Independent.
The eminently electable Bernie Sanders enjoys strong support from African-Americans and young people
I am not going to vote for the worse Democratic candidate because of Mr. Trump. That is why we have the policies in place now. I do not see how the Democratic party prevail based on the policies in place now.
How has Democratic policies been favorable to African Americans specifically? I am not speaking of trickle down policies or what my taxes pay for?
translate ‘Because perfect is the enemy of good’ so I will take my vote and throw it away.
This attitude is WHY WE FUCKING HAVE TRUMP
Democratic policies and platforms, especially among the current candidates, favor things like marijuana legalization and decriminalization (laws that have disproportionally punished African Americans), medicare-for-all, equal rights, and affirmative action. But I’m assuming you’d prefer conservative policies that do not favor those things. (By the way: Democratic tax policies have always avoided Reagan-style trickle-down economics. I’m guessing you aren’t aware of these things whatsoever.)
Not sure why my ‘welcome’ disappeared, but c’est la vie.
Historically speaking, Black folks like myself have tended to vote Democrat.
Regarding Bernie, last time he got my vote over Hillary, and then I voted for Hillary over 45.
Good. Maybe we will get better candidates
Are they running for president?
What will you do if we don’t? Just not vote at all?
Mass incarceration in the AA community was the result of Democratic policies. Mr. Trump did pass the prison reform act. Marijuana legalization and decriminalization is something both parties support. Medicare is for everyone. AA have not benefited from Affirmative Action. Ask Elizabeth Warren.
I am going to vote. I am Independent.
Good.
Voting 3rd party always works so well, especially in a broken two party system; but that’s what freedom of choice is about.
Yes Historically but not recently among GenX or Millennial’s. Hillary only got 85% of the AA vote. It will be less this cycle too. A lot of AA are looking at voting elsewhere due to benign neglect of the Democratic parties for years.
So just vote and keep getting neglected?
How do you feel about Trump’s record with the NBA? If he doesn’t like it, what do you think? Should it be all golf all the time?
Hey, the Libertarian party is due! Especially once all those African-American voters come to their senses about the wonders of supply-side economics and the famous tolerance toward minorities on the part of the tax-paying adherents of that ideology.

While Black folks are not a monolith, and I don’t deign to speak for all of us, I am also Gen X; I vote my best interest, which has never been supported by the GOP in my lifetime.
Voting is only the beginning of our civic engagement, not the end of it.
If all you do is vote and then wait for politicians to ‘fix everything’ then your sense of neglect will never end, and you will always be disappointed.
Yeah, folks like that totally have my best interest at heart.

Then feel free to vote for Mr Trump, and do not respond to me again.
don’t confuse rank and file republicans ( who are finally coming around on pot ) to their leaders ( who have not. )
donald “lock her up” trump rolled back obama’s policies on private prisons, one of the provisions trump pushed for in the reform bill ( a bill which he did not initiate ) was private post prision rehabilitation facilities, his administration is now housing an unprecedented 50,000 immigrants including children, and they continue to house children in what are essentially cages, and continue to separate migrant children from their care takers.
none of his federal judgeship appointments ( nearly 50, twice the normal amount because of republican shenanigans ) have been african americans, some of them are barely qualified ( or not at all qualified, as judged by the american bar association ), and most are ultra right wing conservatives.
his solution to drug trafficking is, laughably, a wall.
tldr. he’s no friend of criminal justice reform.
FTFY; people like that don’t have friends, or real connections with other people.
They have assets and liabilities, and that’s all.
