I’ve had a chance to tour the Field museum specimen collection. It seems to go on forever. In recent years they also take DNA samples from many animals before preservation. Researchers can get access to the samples to examine anatomy or genetics. Any biologists wanting to do comparative work but unable to go into the field to collect should contact them to see if they already have relevant samples
