This raises an interesting (well, to me perhaps) question in my mind: Why the importance of discovering “the first” of anything in popular culture? Doesn’t the appearance of something like a robot in popular culture speak to something going on in a society and hence the more interesting question is why does this thing (in this case a robot) appear in the culture in the first place, and why does it do so?
