This has been a bugbear of mine for a long time as well.
I just don’t get the Magna Carta worship. Not just among nutters but also in general popular historiography.
It’s a document where one part of the elite told another part of the elite that they were currently the stronger part and therefore made the rules. It has nothing to do with democracy or human rights, no matter how much some antiquarians pushed that sort of thing when it became fashionable.

His attorneys are arguing that he shouldn’t have been allowed to represent himself in the original trial because he is mentally ill. In fact, he wrongly believed that fellow white supremacists would rescue him from prison if he didn’t disavow his racism. That isn’t mental illness; it is doubling down on hatred.
