We are in rural VA, solid red and very conservative, Trump friendly and all.
So during Pride Month, one of the folks at my office came out as gay. AndâŚ
absolutely no one was surprised, no one was upset or offended, a few said âfinally.â Most just responded with a âOKâ and moved on. Love my crew here.
Weekend before last I was having a beer over at Pen Druid (Sperryville, Va.) and several gay fellows were enjoying beers with everyone else in there without any kind of sideways glances or resistance of any kind. It was nice to see a very high level of acceptance in rural Virginia. Unexpected really.
For those unfamiliar, Sperryville, Va. is an apple picking, turkey call contesting, black powder shooting, moonshine drinkân, mud boggân, up in th holla livân kind of place.
