I guess it depends on the district? There are certainly places where an AOC-level progressive would never get anywhere near the nomination. In a 2-party system we effectively have to choose between what is served up, and IMHO we need to get as progressive as possible. If the choice is between this version of the Blue Dog and a literal Nazi, I guess I hold my nose and vote blue. In the last election, I did not think of it as voting “for” Hillary, so much as voting “against” Il Douche.
Yup: there will be dancing in the streets in the REST of the Chicagoland area when Lipinski goes, but for now, he really is the best option available for that district.

One of the few times a rebranding actually improves the final product. The blue/red/gray of the shield nicely hints at the context of the war through the use of the two sides’ uniform colors without explicitly surfacing the flags themselves, and it’s way less visually busy than the old one. It’s also actually more inclusive toward the Confederacy, since the “Confederate” flag wasn’t the flag of the entire rebellion anyway.
Wrestling with positive advancements made by genuinely terrible movements is always difficult. It’s worth preserving that history without unintentionally advancing the broader terrible ideology that precipitated them, so kudos to the NMCWM for recognizing that distinction.
