I have to wonder about people who get into politics, into public service: did they think no one was going to ask them questions? If youāre a cabinet secretary, thatās your job. You are the public face for the thousands of people who do the actual work of the agency.

What I donāt get is why this happened at all. Why he assumed a question about Ukraine wouldnāt come up, especially during this week, and why he didnāt have an answer prepared. Just another example of what amateurs these guys really are.
Yes. And also, what assholes. He could have just refused to discuss it, ended the interview, and that was the end of it. Happens all the time when reporters do their jobs and ask hard questions of political figures. Instead he did what was clearly intended to be embarrassing and threatening to Kelly. Because not only did she āembarrassā him, she did so while being a woman, who clearly is smarter than he is. That canāt stand in the Trumpian mindset. They are both authoritarian and deeply misogynistic, always a dangerous combo.
