I read a link to a local news outlet and it sounds like the sheriff is already saying, âWell, I really didnât mean it that wayâŚâ after he was called on it. But the local news also wrote that the library department head was willing to placate the sheriff.
Very disappointed.

I hear that. The one librarian I know in WA acknowledged this possibility, but she said that they hoped that any librarian would let the media know that they are facing threats.
Librarians may be personally left-leaning but in the end they are civil servants. Her guess is that they were told to play nice by the powers that be.
