As I remember it at the time, the ad that the cannibal put out in the German equivalent of craigslist asking for people to be his dinner got hundreds of enthusiastic responses. The reason that it was obviously consensual is that the whole thing was videotaped and the dinner was clearly happy about the situation. I’m glad I wasn’t on the jury or anything related to it as the whole thing gave me nightmares just hearing about it.
It also seemed like the case enabled people to do a lot of kink-shaming at the time.

Gov Northam of Va. banned weapons from the Va. capitol leading up to a recent gun rights rally and it worked. He declared a state of emergency “citing “threats of armed confrontation and assault on our Capitol.”
Could be a prudent thing for other Govs to think about.

Guns, concealed or open carry, are banned at public schools and churches in Michigan under actual laws. This covers a high proportion of Michigan poling places. What isn’t covered are municipally-owned poling places such as city halls, park buildings and libraries. If you live in Michigan, vote at a school or church, and spot some Vanilla Isis yahoo on the property on November 3, call 911. State police are obligated to respond if your county has one of those “sovereign sheriff” idiots that you need to vote out of office as soon as possible,

Also: boy howdy is that goofball using a lot of orange makeup these days. It’s like that part of Game of Thrones after Cersei gets her hair cut off as part of her public shaming and then her handmaid/confidant suddenly shows up with a pixie cut in a transparent act of flattery.
