I actually gave up the first several games, but now I’m able to make some sense of it. It’s definitely way more challenging (frustrating?) than Wordle.

That’s fantastic! My best is five (today and yesterday). I feel like I finally understand the rules, but I have to admit I was rather impatient the first 3-4 days. I had more time on the weekend and I could take time to learn the meaning of the dots and actually complete a game.

I used to be quite good at Mastermind, so the concept of how to interpret the green & yellow (black and white, in Mastermind) came back to me pretty easily.

We didn’t have Mastermind at our house. For a family of five kids, we had very few board games…It just dawned on me that I think my parents preferred to give us books over board games because the games we had typically ended in massive arguments.

It’s really suprisingly difficult/different with the reduced information in the clues. I’m stubborn enough that I am now hooked after failing miserably at my first try

Right?! It is so surprisingly harder. The puzzle it presents, especially having to come up with a word that fits all of your previous guesses, is super fascinating to me. I might some day add a way to “submit” your score. I’m fascinated by the different paths to the solution.

2nd day of Croword:
Line 1: one yellow
Line 2: one green
Line 3: nada
Line 4: three green
Line 5: success!
I definitely learned a lot by getting nothing in line 3, when I thought I was being smart by taking the most likely letter in line 1 and putting it in two different places in line 2. That had to be something, right? Nope, totally wrong! The yellow in line 1 had absolutely nothing to do with the green in line 2.
I like how this alternative makes me think more deeply about each try.

Yep! You have to be patient and think your options through. I find that I’m more successful when I play the game outside of work hours. Nothing like an important email or a phone call to break your concentration.
