Reading this fumbling, cretinous hot-take has fully triggered me into being a Gillibrand supporter, even though I think talking about the presidential race in 2018 is gross.
From a purely tactical point of view, pushing Franken out may well have made the difference in defeating Roy Moore in Alabama. Had the Democrats rallied behind Franken instead of holding him to the same standards of behavior they demand of Republicans then their credibility on the issue would have been irreparably damaged regardless of how much worse the Republican politicians’ behavior was.
