"The internet is all lies," eye-rolling rebel leader tells CNN on missing Russian missile tweet

So that means that not everything on the internet is a lie which means everything on the internet is true, which means he is telling the truth! which means that everything on the internet IS a lie! Which means that he… oh forget it

Isn’t it naive for anyone to believe that the U.S. would come to any conclusion other than one that is in their perceived best interest?

The truth has absolutely nothing to do with it. It’s all “Kabuki”!

This is what you’ve chosen to be your first comment in this forum? An airliner full of people was shot out of the sky, there is no ‘best interest’ in this having happened. Not for the US, not for Russia and not for Ukraine.

I know the whole “your first post” thing is a thing. It’s not (always) an outright accusation but more like a call to doubt the truth or intent of the comment.

Doesn’t that fit with being skeptical of news reports, government lines, rebel leader accounts, etc?

“This is what you’ve chosen to be your first comment in this forum?” Seems like it fits. Maybe it’s a little too tinged with the confidence of the conspirophile and lacking some empathy statement of “this is a tragedy,” but I think it fits.

Thinking everyone (not specifically calling you out IronEdithKidd, just the “tsk tsk, first post” folks) who has their first post on a hot topic is a shill is its own sort of belief in some sort of conspiracy/big lie/misinformation campaign, which is… what, exactly what this person is believing is happening?

Everyone had to have first post sometime. Criticize the content of the post if you must, but bringing post count into it is a cheap shot.

It’s always been my impression that it is a punishable breach of protocol for a military person to speak the truth to the press. Even on ‘‘our’’ side, whatever that means to you.

Thing is, you can count on propaganda. But another thing is, when these events occur - sadly, all too frequently - you’ve got to read information rapidly, like a hawk, and digest it before it’s possible for a coalesced political view to take hold.

It’s naive nowadays to imagine that the sharper minds can be easily duped. We learned from the rubbish poured out to facilitate the attack on Iraq. The internet moves faster than spin can, but you’ve got to catch it early, as things are developing, before people get “the call”, if it comes.

Before the plane went down, it was clear a mass of armed vehicles had moved into Ukraine from Russia. People tweet this stuff. When the plane went down, they moved back.

It doesn’t take a genius to connect the dots and form a working hypothesis.

My side is the families of the deceased. Whoever did this needs to make it right. Confess. Get it over with.

The evidence points at separatists + Russia, in some way.

"MH17 is actually MH370, that Malaysia Airlines flight that disappeared into the Indian Ocean. According to this theory, the plane didn’t disappear at all, “it was taken to an American military base, Diego-Garcia.”

Then it was taken to Holland. On the necessary day and hour, it flew out, bound for Malaysia, but inside were not live people, but corpses. The plane was flown not by real pilots; it was on autopilot. Or take-off (a complicated procedure) was executed by live pilots, who then ejected on parachutes. Then the plane flew automatically. In the necessary spot, it was blown up, without even using a surface-to-air missile. Instead the plane was packed with a bomb, just like the CIA did on 9/11."

Aha! Well, if the shoe fits!

II didn’t mean anyone has to take sides. not at all. Good to see someone who will own up to their interest. I wish you peace and reliable data.

Just that any military is not the best source of information certainly not the ones being all chaotic on the scene.

Canadian prime minister.

Russian military is not chaotic on the scene.

Thankfully, the Russian ambassador to Malaysia has cleared it all up:

http://www.thestar.com.my/News/Nation/2014/07/22/MH17-Russian-Ambassador-on-attack/

Of course, given the potential for sales of Russian aircraft to Malaysia based on past experience, she may lean in one direction:

That’s the thing about Malaysia - it’s certainly a “unique mix”.

But there we have it - she’s cleared up that the rebels do not have the capability to shoot down a civilian airliner at altitude.

She didn’t address the (mis?!?!???!?!??!) information that a group of 150 Russian vehicles including Buk launchers moved from Russia to Ukraine just prior to the awful tragedy, but hey - she’s a busy person! We can’t expect the full package all in one go!

In russia you are not in possession of buk system, buk system is in possession of you.

Every time there’s a post tangentially related to Russia, the pro-Putin astroturfers show up like a propaganda army. Securing the crash site and returning the remains of the victims to their families should be priority right now. Assigning blame and playing politics can wait until after the damned funerals.
