The military sysadmins in charge of Trump's cellphones can't get him to give up wildly insecure practices

The problem with that, or any blackmail situation, is that once the blackmailer publishes the information, he no longer has power over the blackmailed. More likely, imho, is that Putin would publish a small amount, just to remind Cadet Bonespurs who owns him.

But, yeah, it would be fun.

Well, in my dream scenario it’s a complete burn. Like, screw this guy, let’s get him out of office, into jail and try our luck with another president.

Honestly, with how inoculated the right wing has become to his shenanigans I think a slow burn might not work anyways. I think Trump could handily weather the pee tape’s release.

Especially if pro-Trump media take the line that it had nothing to do with sex and was entirely about getting back at the Kenyan Muslim Socialist who had stayed in that hotel room when he visited Moscow.

But trump would never stand up to Russia. Just wait - they will try some really egregious shit and trump will just roll over.

but they won’t try this shit before the mid terms - they first want to see if they can keep congress in the hands of the republicans because it protects trump. If that happens they will start stepping out of line

So, no full disclosure before the last half of Spanky’s second turn.

The Russians do have good cybersecurity.

IOW he’s doing exactly what he claims should have had Hillary thrown in jail.

I’d say he’s got some mileage out of it.

That’s most of how narcissism works.

Surely they sent Donnie a copy as proof. I’m just hope he keeps it on his phone for ease of viewing.

Now that a concept of having a smartphone that can become totally secure messaging and call device running on separate and well vetted and hardened hardware which can be activated and deactivated with a simple switch has been put on the market, I don’t think it will be long before we see more devices such as this. Refinement will naturally come next. While such devices can’t reliably secure your activities outside the secure phone and messaging system, we already have many secure android distros on the market which provide a reasonable level of security. Of course, your risk is still mostly your end user so there is the little problem of an idiot being impossible to secure against.

@fuzzyfungus low emission vehicles had real problems competing with muscle cars until our lawmakers forced car manufacturers to meet emissions and fuel efficiency standards.

Obviously a president who cares about his country. Why else would he put secure information at risk?

There’s nothing of interest to hack.

He’s not doing anything on them but tweeting and talking to the press, and all of that is made public anyway.

Secret-squirrel things would be done on secure lines, not on any mobile device. Chances are 45 doesn’t even make those calls himself, he has someone do it for him because he can’t be bothered with that kind of stuff.

Hey, he if makes freakin’ policy via Twitter…

exactly. There’s no need to hack his phone, he can’t keep his mouth shut.

I’d put good money on that EVERY FoxNews anchor and exec phones have been compromised.

Why bug one side when you can bug the other?

So, instead of “We attack at dawn”, it’s, “I tweet at dawn”?

Sounds about right.

If all phones were secure it would be harder for the NSA to spy on citizens. Same reason that government doesn’t like strong encryption for the public and wants software created with deliberate security vulnerabilities.

Pretty much. And not just Trump, very little any president does is really sensitive. 90% of classified stuff should really be public and the rest should be declassified within a couple of years as the active operation ends. Trump’s habit of just saying everything publicly is one thing I like about him, if he becomes aware of any CIA asassinations or torture sites, we’ll find out about them also. Which probably just means the CIA won’t tell him.

Getting access to a device that connects to a secure network might be considered interesting.
