Thatās effectively what Abbott did, even if he didnāt intend it. He increased inspections of incoming trucks so he could claim he was offsetting the Biden administrationās supposedly lax policy re: smuggling of undocumented immigrants. Mexican truck drivers understandably got angry and started the blockade in response, with the implicit support of the neighbouring Mexican stateās government.
Internally or internationally, Americans are going to be seeing more blockades and roadblocks in the coming years. One way or another they serve the ends of fascists.

He might try to spin it that way after the fact, but Abbott isnāt playing that level of 4D chess. He figured heād score some cheap points with the anti-immigrant bigots by setting up what was in effect an official semi-blockade and that Mexicans would roll over. Instead the Mexican drivers responded with their own blockade.
