He’s not the only one. This smells of a Republican hit job. They probably knew for a while and would have continued ignoring it if he hadn’t crossed whatever line that they have. (I’ll go with tattling about coke-fueled orgies until something concrete appears.)

I’ve read that the NC Republican establishment hasn’t been happy with his attention-seeking behaviour since the whole orgy business. You can imagine what a bunch of nasty old ratf*ckers that lot is.
Not that I feel sorry for Cawthorn. Nothing but arseholes on both sides of that little feud.

And like others have pointed out, this is not about whatever he decides to do among consenting adults, it’s about his whole, “okay for me but not for thee,” political stances that are hurting real people right now and likely into the future. Same holds for pretty much the whole GOP right now. They’ll pay for their mistresses or daughters to terminate unwanted or dangerous pregnancies, but outlaw it for all of the “less than” people.
