The only candidate not playing into ISIS hysteria is Bernie Sanders, and he's surging in the polls

Hysteria is a word twice plagued, by its etymology and its hyperbolic use, so I prefer to just avoid the term.

Media outlets covering the actions of Daesh have been complicit in stoking an unproductive amount of fear in the public. The insidious thing about such collective fear is that it often remains unapparent until it manifests itself in the rise of candidates like Trump and legislation like CISPA.

Daesh is a real problem (most immediately to unfortunate neighbors such as Turkey) and their methods warrant the United States’ collective vigilance. I’d just rather the U.S. government (and society) not go into a self-destructive fever in acting on that vigilance.
