Ah, memories of making sure the “ball” would get stuck in a feedback loop between the “paddles” so we could continue the game after being called upstairs for dinner.
Still, I’m still glad to see that computers, the internet, and gaming have progressed so far within my lifetime (except for the sexism and racism).
And then some. Why, back in my time you basically needed your own power station and a team of engineers just to run a simple game of Pong.
I wasn’t allowed to have an Atari, my parents thought it would damage the TV, but I did have a mechanical imitation that captured the essence of the game:
No shame there. You could take yours wherever you went!
Besides, Tomy is known for some very popular toys and games (Blythe dolls, Boggle, Jenga, and cough… Furby).
I wonder how much a Magnavox version of Pong would be worth these days?
