polish salt miners had a similar thing; untrained as artists, just deciding to go for it and carve into the rock to great effect. i guess the mining background didn’t make them rank amateurs, but artistically, they figured out really good technique.

A cult is a religious group created by a charismatic leader. Once the leader dies, the group becomes a sect.
