I didn’t even realize they’d redone the box art. It’s largely the same characters in nearly the same poses with the same backdrop as the original 90s art. If you’re not paying attention, thumbnail images of the two look almost identical. Then when you zoom in it becomes a fun game of spot the difference

The general assumption is that this is because Games Workshop probably own most of the art and design elements for OG HeroQuest and aren’t willing to work with a competitor any more.
OK, smart people. I’m not paying $125 for something I’ll be begging my teenage son to play (followed by begging to give it back, as these things go). We’re in the future, right?
What’s the free, open-source equivalent to HeroQuest complete with printable boards and printable 3D models?
