"The Satanic Verses" author Salman Rushdie attacked on stage in New York

Rushdie remained hospitalized with serious injuries, but fellow author Aatish Taseer tweeted in the evening that he was “off the ventilator and talking (and joking).” Rushdie’s agent, Andrew Wylie, confirmed that information without offering further details.

I don’t know which sickens me more, the Iranian regime crowing about the attack or the American right-wingers (who Rushdie himself doesn’t exactly get along with) using it as justification for their quest to create a more Islamophobic society.

And this shit from the Iranian officials really shows how out-of-touch they are with the rest of the world:

“Regarding the attack against Salman Rushdie in America, we don’t consider anyone deserving reproach, blame or even condemnation, except for (Rushdie) himself and his supporters,” Kanaani said.

“In this regard, no one can blame the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he added. “We believe that the insults made and the support he received was an insult against followers of all religions.”

Bro, it wasn’t “followers of all religions” calling for Rushdie’s blood. It wasn’t even “followers of Islam.” It was basically just you assholes.
