Well-deserved and such a nice man - I’ve met him(very briefly) at book signings a couple of times and he has always been patient, pleasant, and a great explainer of his writing.
I was organizing my books this weekend and I have a shelf fully dedicated to William Gibson and William Vollmann

This is completely unexpected and somewhat unacceptable.
How are they just doing this now when he should have been honored with this title at least 10 years ago?
(Yes, he completely deserves the award; it is just long overdue.)
