Philips have the advantage of letting go when you reach tightness. Allen, torx and Robertson will hold on and twist the head off or drive to deep (in wood.) This is from the perspective of working at speed. I guess it depends on what job you are doing. Phillips is an evolved solution that is perfect for some tasks.
