The Trump-funding, democracy-denying, Gawker-destroying Peter Thiel is finally no longer involved with Y Combinator

Back in the day, all we had to worry about from far-right computer billionaires were crazy plots to invade the Soviet Union.

Good movie. Has aged surprisingly well. Which, given the topic/plot is a little bit worrying.

The book is currently high up on my read list.

If his company is called Palantir, does that mean that Peter Thiel is Sauron?

I’ll probably re-watch the Harry Palmer trilogy next month (I’ll be a grass widower then) and might even flip through the books.
BTW, there is a radio adaption of The Ipcress File that’s much closer to the book than the film was.

Denethor, because his hands are all over it.

Isn’t Thiel the loon who wants to be a literal blood-sucking capitalist, injecting the blood from young people into his veins for immortality?

Their belief in “freedom” and “democracy” extends exactly up to the point that it directly benefits themselves (invariably at the expense of many others), and no further. Anything that does not directly benefit them is “tyranny” and/or “socialism”.

This guy is so odious I needed to wash my hands after (briefly) hearing him on a podcast.

That’s not the whole point. A large reason such questions are asked is for the questioner to have legal protection when someone lies.
