It’s a New Year’s Tradition in Germany but weirdly a Christmas tradition in Norway.
“Ah, isn’t it nice to spread some 4th of July cheer in this cold, snowy weather! Let’s bake some fireworks and then decorate the sparklers together!”

Every movie written by Shane Black is a Christmas movie!
You’ve really helped me get over writer’s block with this Rosetta Stone
I think of Trading Places as a New Years movie.
So watch it a few days after Christmas. I actually got it as a double DVD, with “Coming to America”, so I tend to watch them together.
That’s why I watch. I know there will be a soft ball conflict, then resolution as “friends” then a happy ending. I don’t have to worry about missing some huge story twist or in depth plot twists. I have anxiety like crazy over the pandemic and the election. These give me 2 hours of peace where none of that exists.
