If you want to build you own, I bought a “Build Your Own Pokeball Habitat” kit from Shoestring Scientists at Otakon last month. That got a chunk of Christmas shopping for my younger nephew done

One of my coworkers has a Charmander one of these on his desk. Can confirm, it’s pretty neat.

I always figured that Pokemon within pokeballs lived a purgatory of twilight half-consciousness, vaguely aware of being but completely unable to act or react. A mini garden is a much better way to imagine it.

I am not very knowledgeable on the subject, but I’m sure it’s implied most Pokemon like going in their balls. Then again, maybe they are so depressed by their lives of servitude and endless battle for the amusement of their masters that they simply prefer to be paralyzed and only half-aware.
