pretty freaky fish, alright.
we get them here in the deep waters when vertical jigging or deep-dropping for big grouper, mutton or queen snapper. 300-600 feet. i’ve never eaten one. they seem too bony.
oh, yeah… they have needles for teeth! strange fish. might have to keep one to try if i ever go out that far again.
Closely related to the giant oarfish and warm-blooded opahs, if you have heard of those.
