I read an interesting article about this, and to put the reaction in as charitable a light as possible (which is likely not warranted, but always better to be too charitable, than not charitable enough)…
In the challenges that the United States has faced - namely terrorism, one of the only things citizens can do to “fight back” is to not be terrorized. To refuse to be take measures that might lessen risk, but instead, continue to live life as before.
And thus is built a response that is utterly incorrect for fighting a virus.
Along comes COVID-19, and immediately our brain wants to anthropomorphize it. We must “beat” it, even though there’s no contest. There’s not even an opponent. It’s simply a phenomenon to be survived. And sadly, we humans are not designed to handle that. And given the training these last few decades, it’s amazing it’s not even worse.
“No oxygen for you!”
(Special air from a tank? That can’t be God’s plan!)
“Ma’am? Excuse me, did you make your mask from a dry cleaning bag?”
“…”
“That might be the problem. You should try a cloth mask.”
To be fair I think there were some legitimate points hidden amongst the crazy.
“Running a firearms business” I don’t have an issue with. But getting people to reveal their face to the camera then come in, would likely solve both issues.
“I have PTSD from being left in a car” I have no idea of the solution to this one, but I think its fair to consider
There is SO much crazy though.
The porn industry is having a rough time right now. I think you may have inadvertently given them an issue to lobby for!
I believe that the person who made this wonderful remark was having trouble breathing herself. I wonder how long it’s going to be before she needs a dose of oxygen under her nose so she can “make energy”
