Old folk are my kinda kids.
She got the power!
I feel like I saw her before on Martin Clunes: Islands of America. And YouTube has a few more local TV snippets and one from CBS Evening News. She is the definitive local celebrity around those parts.
I grew up near that area and definitely recall having seen/read things on her before! Warms my heart that she’s still getting after it.
“Because I want to”, that’s the best answer you can give for someone who thinks old age is just a bullshit concept. As long as you can do your work, your hobby, your fun then do it! The idea of slowing down or taking it easy is the quickest route to a coffin. I’d hate like hell to try to keep up with her. Hers is a life well lived. You are an inspiration Lady!
So in tune with nature she can just summon the lobsters to the boat. Now that’s something to aspire to.
She has the Force but it only works on sea creatures
Aqua(wo)man?
I’ve seen so many cases of this.
Dad was an engineer before he retired. He’s got lots of hobbies, and is a pretty social guy. Worked with lots of A-type upper management for whom the aerospace life was the only thing they did. Never took vacations (except when the family demanded it), and lived at work as much as possible. Those guys retired, or some were golden parachuted when one business bought another, and one by one have died off in very short times after they retired. Those guys had no reason to live, and nature took care of things.
Work life balance folks, it’s important.
Similarly, my great grandparents were 104 and 105 when they died. We always semi-joked that they were in a contest to see who would live longer. One died, then the other followed about a week later. They were living as a pair, and when one 1/2 was gone, soon followed the other.
I volunteered for the Nelson streetcar this summer and got to work with 94 year old Charlie Bunce. He was up and under the streetcar maintaining as if he were 40 years younger. Amazing.
I hope that the lobster population doesn’t move too far north for her to continue…
And favorite line? “working with her 78-year-old son Max” lol
“I hate to let down the family so I’m not planning to retire until the kids are all dead.”
