Golden Retrievers do have a reputation for being stupid.

I wouldn’t necessarily call them stupid, more like placid and willing to put up with a lot, as long as they trust the human doing it. Goldens are one of the breeds of choice for service dogs training.

The problem with the idea that a vacuum can reduce pet hair is that, no matter what you subtract from infinity you still have infinity.

I dunno, I’ve known a few dogs absolutely loved being vacuumed. Which was useful, as I’m sure one of them was entirely a ball of self-replenishing dog-hair animated by a canine poltergeist.
