This incredible roller disco scene from CHiPs features a cavalcade of 1970s TV stars

I’m surprised none of the streaming services have The Life And Times of Grizzly Adam’s.

He died in 2016.

Does the Avengers count as a modern version of this? Even though most of the actors are famous for being in the Avengers feeding movies?

Man, I was a huge fan of the show when I was a kid. If we were at my grandparents’ house, my grandmother always wanted to watch it. “Erik Estrada is SO handsome” she’d say.
Anyway, for the life of me, I cannot remember this episode, though.
This video was amazing.

An Italian-dubbed version is on YouTube (subtitles hardly needed). The producers obviously decided to go all-out for the start of season 3. Putting aside the roller disco scene, the featured guest stars on the two-parter are 1970s-amazing too: Jim Brown, Bill Daily, Leif Garrett, Ed McMahon, Larry Linville, and the late great Larry Storch.

Watching that first scene is a reminder of how much filler was in the shows and movies of the time. Lots of repetitive action-free shots of people just travelling to get from point A to B.

I wish they’d put Emergency! Into syndication.

Of course Todd Bridges is the only star who can actually skate dance.

It’s the proverbial “too good to check” but I believe the whole notion of paramedics – which had early adoption in LA – really got a big boost nationwide from Emergency!

I can’t think of Ruth Buzzi without thinking of her bashing Arte Johnson with her handbag. Makes me smile every time.

I’ve been bingeing Mission Impossible lately, and guess who popped up? Henry Gibson.

IIRC, he played an art dealer or something. It was such a long-running show with so many episodes per season, they all kind of blur together.

1979.The California Highway Patrol did charity fundraising at that time, and still do. I wonder if the CHiPs production leveraged off an actual CHP charitable event, hence the unusual appearance of competing network celebrities showing up since it was for charity. Just speculating.

Fie. Came in here to express appreciation of Antonio Vargas’ moves.

He’s dead now…so is he…she’s dead…both of them are dead now…

I was watching a clip of Blazing Saddles not long ago, and I wondered what Mongo/Alex Carras was up to these days. Ends up not a lot.

And the more I looked, the more dead actors I found. Aside from Mel Brooks, all of the principal cast members have died.
