Well no. But there were certainly calling her a bitch and a cunt. Also, as @bibliophile20, pointed out, there were calls to have her executed.
And not a single one of us is excusing calling for someone, anyone to be raped. Of course that’s reprehensible. That doesn’t mean it’s not a problem we elected a man who has made a friend and ally to neo-nazis a key adviser.
You might as well say that 0.01 percent of voters effective decided the election since it was so close.
That doesn’t make any sense, either.
South Dakota and Alaska, for example, have more electoral votes per capita than California, New York, Texas or Florida. Otherwise, their voices would essentially be overwhelmed every year.
Did South Dakota’s electoral votes win the election? Did they team up with Rhode Island to form a nation-controlling cabal?
Only the flow of pork-barrel money will tell us for sure…
TL;DR: Simple majority vote is NOT how the American democracy works - we’re rule of the majority with respect to the minority. And if you don’t think that’s important, you’re probably pretty happy with last week’s results. If you do think that’s important, have another look at the how’s and why’s of the electoral college.
I’m not sure anyone has argued that though. The electoral college was a response to elite fears over the expansion of the franchise, though. The founders did not trust us to make the right decision. I do think that some things should be outside of democratic practices - one doesn’t get to decide on other’s human rights, for example.
Hey, don’t blame me. It’s your country. You screwed up. I wish you would at least get your nukes out of my country, but your adorable picketing, clever slogans and whiny middle class soliloquies probably won’t do it.
Y’know what kills me about the Monica tshirt? I have an old co-worker, sort of a friend, who still likes to bring up Monica. The scandal was 18 years ago. But bringing up Trump calling for revolution four years ago? Off-limits, bringing up the past, we need to drop it so we can heal as a nation.
It’s also something persons are obsessed with outside the country as well. I visited Indonesia a few years ago well before Clinton won the primary, and “Monica Lewinsky should run for President, EH?!” the cab driver said before I headed to the plane.
