While I’ve known about the fifth wheel for some time, I’ve always wondered if it would fly as part of the parallel parking section of a driving test at the DMV.

I think it’s pretty neat to have some actual use for spare tire! Is this approach more sensible in the days of electric vehicles?

Of course that’s an M10 tank destroyer rather than a Sherman. The running gear is largely the same, but the armour is thinner and the gun more powerful than on early Shermans. But as they say…

I wonder how it would work on a hill?

And nevermind all the kids it would knock over, cyclists it would hit and garage walls it would take out.

Just imagine some of the bad drivers that have shown up on this very website if they had this option.
