I hadn’t notice before how pinched Trump’s nostrils are. How can you be a successful demagogue without the ability to flare your nostrils in irate disdain?
@74hc595 I wonder if the West avoided using the Death Camps for propaganda as it might have misfired. With Antisemitism being the mainstream, maybe it could have triggered a “we are not going to lay down our lives to save THEM” reaction; like the Race Riots in New York when Civil War conscription kicked in.
@knoxblox “I’ll be on foot, with an empty backpack and some snacks. Not much they can search, and my background is clean.” Welcome to the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.
He didn’t need to say it by himself, it was more convenient to indirectly encourage publication of hate-speech filled materials. Der Sturmer called for extermination as early as 1933:
There are disturbing parallels to what’s currently happening, like US president calling neo-nazis “very fine people”.
“Following the rally, photographs depicting RAM members assaulting protestors and other individuals were covered on local news stations and on the “front page” of various Neo-Nazi and white-supremacist websites. RAM members celebrated this coverage and used the internet to post statements, photographs, and videos of the assaults committed by RAM members at this rally to recruit members to engage in violent confrontations at future events”
Bragging about assault online and including photographs is asking to be locked up. Showing up to what you claim is a “peaceful protest” with athletic tape around your knuckles is another dead giveaway of true intention. Plus, using bandanas to hide your identity while you are already known as the public face of your group is the definition of dumbass.
If only everyone on the right were this tactically incompetent.
Exactly. It is also important to understand that fascism is to a large extent revealed by what is not said, either explicitly, or at all. Highlighting and condemning crimes by immigrants, but avoiding or failing to condemn acts of right-wing violence for instance. Insinuations, fake outrage, denials, projection, gaslighting. The propaganda is insidious, and has already infected a large percentage of the American public; watching the media and most of the opposition dither in the face of what every high school history student should be able to identify by now is maddening.
