Today in transphobia (Part 2)

I got a gentle nudge from a fellow Mutant as a DM, and had just come here to try to fix my mistake, but you caught it too!

Happens to the best of us! I know I post wrong stuff sometimes. No biggie!

Believe me, there’s plenty of room.

What a shock. When a person turns their back on science in one issue, they turn their back on all issues.

This still feels TERFy to me though. Male is Male, Female is Female and they shouldn’t mix. Just trying to slap a veneer of science on it.

Oh, for sure. You know if this were actually the case, but research showed that trans women’s blood was in fact in the same category as cis women’s blood, she’d reject it out of hand immediately. It’s all invention to give her notion of “biological sex” some kind of reality.

Yep… Insisting on a “veneer” of science is pretty much anti-scientific…

If she gets in a serious accident & the only blood available is from a trans woman- I’m going to bet she’ll take it.

It is absolutely TERF-y. I must not have made myself clear.

The anti-trans movement ignores the science that trans people (and nonbinary people) are the way they are for a reason - their brains are structurally different than their bodies at birth. Which is an obvious outcome to anyone who has studied sex and gender determination during human development.

It is no surprise than a TERF who ignores the science of trans and nonbinary people also ignores the science of epidemiology and immunology when there is a pandemic, or the science of climate change, or any other science that refutes their worldview or otherwise makes them uncomfortable.

She claims she “stumbled across this” so I’ll just add the obligatory:

It’s an older idea, but TERFism is built on it.

Blood type has fuck all to do with gender; so JKR is an idiot on top of being a hateful bigot.

There are only two genders: Rh+ and Rh-. That keeps everything nice, simple, and irrelevant.

There is no such thing as type O, A, B or AB.

Excuse me, I have several patients with failing kidneys.

I think “stumbled across this” really means “imagined this and convinced myself that it was real”. It’s scarily reminiscent of the “can’t give blood from black donors to white people” claim made by racists for so long.

WTAF??? No, just no. Not a fact at all. No more than “cross-racial transfusions have more complications.” Myth based on sexism is still a myth.

Trans wife of service member

In the days after her husband was reported missing to the Texas Army base where he was stationed, Cam Chamberlain sent a series of urgent Facebook messages to a longtime friend: When he disappeared, she said, he left her with no food and no money.

She wasn’t working, she was estranged from her family, and her efforts to get help from the Army had gone nowhere, two longtime friends said.

“I’m scared,” she wrote to Jessica D’Lynn Pyles in a message the friend shared with NBC News. “I’m alone. I just want the pain to go away. I can’t take it anymore.”

Within a week of that message, Cam Chamberlain’s death was announced, and the next day, her husband — who had been missing for 11 days — was discovered alive. Spc. Craig Chamberlain, 23, had “willfully” disappeared from his unit, according to Army officials at his post, Fort Cavazos.

Military authorities have offered few answers about what happened, and friends of Cam Chamberlain, who was in her late 20s, have said they’ve found no solace in the aftermath of her death: There have been no autopsy, no obituary and no funeral.
