Why not let Montana get in on the fun?

Nothing says “America” like two oppressed minorities tearing at each other to get the prime scraps… I hate this stupid timeline.

And then there are assholes like this:

Hey, at least they’re admitting that they view children as pawns to further a political agenda. It’s not like we haven’t been aware of that since at least Vietnam.

After all, that area had a “nice school shooting” some twenty-odd years ago, and since then, precisely dick has been done to stop this shit.

Yay.

I mean, you’re not wrong, but it’s pretty darn bleak that that is right.

He’s hanging it up because he’s overwhelmed by shootings, not because shootings have stopped.
21,000 crosses delivered for shooting victims.

Shooters themselves have now explicitly joined the many, many groups of people shouting “it’s the guns, stupid!” directly at the NRA and elected officials.

“White Settlement”?

I was hoping to read that it was named after some settler with the surname “White” but alas no, according to Wikipedia it’s exactly what it sounds like:

The city got its name because it was the lone village of white pioneers amid several Native American encampments in the Fort Worth area in the Texas Republic territory in the 1840s.[4][5] On October 14, 2005, city leaders citing hurdle in attracting businesses[6] announced a plan to have local voters decide on a possible name change for the town from White Settlement to West Settlement. In the November 8 election, the name change was overwhelmingly rejected by a vote of 2,388 to 219.[5]

Granted, that unfortunate factoid in no way diminishes the horror of yet another mass shooting.

Thanks, sad and ridiculous indeed.

Time for another name-change vote! Though I suppose the result might well be just the same. :grimacing:

Looks like the gunman in this tragedy was taken down by other churchgoers who were packing heat, so I guess we should brace ourselves for the inevitable “see, more guns DO save lives!!” narrative.

They were volunteers doing security at the church it seems. A well-regulated militia?

And of course, we will never know how many the gunman intended to shoot. Maybe he intended to stop at two?

Might as well start like we finished, eh?

Strictly speaking, not a mass shooting, but… wow.

What a totally rational and Responsible means of conflict resolution! It’s a good thing he had a gun handy, otherwise those kids might have gotten a stern talking-to about the dangers of throwing snowballs at speeding vehicles. Now they know better because they know they’ll be shot if they try it!

Sweet Christ I hate this timeline.
