TOM THE DANCING BUG: How to Tell the Difference Between an Open-Carry Patriot and a Deranged Killer

I agree. People do these open carry stunts in order to try to get the public used to seeing guns without being scared. But they ARE getting scared, and so it’s obviously counterproductive.

I hope I’m not twisting your words.

Appeal to fear, ad hominem, red herring…need I go on?

Well even though I agree this is grand standing what these guys are doing, in certain circumstances, but not in general, all anyone on here appears to be doing (with a few exceptions) is committing all manner of fallacious attacks to ratchet up the fear. It’s OK, the people with the critical thinking skills can sort the wheat from the chaff and identify the sophistry all these collectivist and statists fall into, and they see the confused for what they are; people being taken advantage of by their owners. All they have to do is start to question what is going on around them, do some reading and figure out what is really happening here. No one can lead these ignorant into the light of reason, only they can do that for themselves. The issue is not enough people are waking up, or probably waking up in time to save us from our own psychopathy. It’s easier and safer to follow the party line, stay the course of the status quo and not rock the boat. This stuff is programmed into people at a very young age, and it’s understandable why they can’t see it. For those who want to wake up there are some pretty good sources out there, here is one; www.tragedyandhope.com

I went to my first gun show this spring, and there were multiple tables with handwritten signs that said “private sale” or something similar. Makes it easier if you’re trying to avoid that background check. How does it work out? I have no idea, I wasn’t there to buy guns. I just wanted to see if it was the kind of scary place that guns shows are made out to be. It wasn’t.

Yes, actually, I think there are notifications that elicit exactly that response. Sadly, I’m not kidding.

“folks wouldn’t look at a black person open carrying any differently than a white person open carrying.”

Total bullshit. No one with a brain believes that. A black man open carrying would be shot on sight by some white “good guy with a gun,” which is why you don’t see any minorities participating in these dumbass, terrorist stunts.

Well, you didn’t really need to go all ad hominem there. I do, in fact, have a brain, and I have, in fact, seen black men open carrying, and the general public not caring in the least.

I have consistently stated that the views in expressing are based on first hand experience in my part of the country, and may not be consistent with the rest of the nation.

If you really believe that a black man, or another member of a minority group, would be shot if they just open carried, I have to guess that your part of the country has some serious problems with racism.

ETA: Also, if you actually put in some minor effort, like Googling it, you will see that there are photos of members of minority groups open carrying right along side these white guys.

I’ve seen an open carry on a black man. I’m assuming he’s still alive. This isn’t 1840 in South Georgia.

How people react to open carry depends on several factors. I think race plays a part, but it isn’t an absolute. I’d feel better about a black guy with a nice leather holster with a button down shirt and slacks, vs a white guy with facial tattoos, oil stained tshirt, and a gun tucked in his waist band.

Just before dusk at 7pm?

I don’t get this reference…

I was just swapping years to time, (1840,= 6:40PM), implying that black men open carrying in current day Georgia probably wouldn’t do too well.

But I guess if you have to explain the joke…

Yeah, I thought you were going someplace else as well. 18:40 is too foreign.

Forgetting my audience. Military/24HR time isn’t used so much over here, is it?

Its like saying ‘half three’. In the UK that’s obviously 3:30, over here people think I mean 2:30.

Half three? I would never think 2:30, I’d wonder why you couldn’t just say “two-thirty” It’s a lot clearer.

I don’t have time for that many syllables.

You probably wouldn’t ask me what part of Australia I was from either.

Of course not. I’d ask you where in New Zealand you were from.

Drives Australians crazy.

tl;dr. Can you summarize?

I didn’t say that.

Ok, sorry. You meant black (or hispanic) kid wearing clothes with colors.
Otherwise it’s: style of dress [gang members wear what everyone else in their neighborhood wears], TATTOOS [most gang members don’t have tattoos, sorry].
