1982 was a bad mudslide year. Besides the many roads and house access points that were destroyed, and houses* destroyed, the Love Creek slide near Ben Lomond destroyed 30 homes and killed 10 people.
- I remember looking at debris on a hillside, the remains of a house that had once been rather farther up that particular hill. There was a car door among the debris, which I assumed was a spare bit they’d had hanging about. Until I looked further and saw the bits and pieces of the rest of a Dodge Colt. It takes a lot of force to simply rip a car to pieces.
