I had by chance a horrific experience of watching someone grab the door frame
on a slam-door southern train (think I was on my way to the races) only to see the door closed on them ‘ouch-does-not-cover-it’ …just imagine every finger on that hand was crushed…

I think that public transport should be more like a gaunlet, favouring the swift and nimble and harshly punishing the bumblers and meanderers who mill about like flies. Faster guillotine doors I say! Let them repeatedly close and open so you have to dive through the trap to get in the carriage. Fight gladiators who wander up and down the train until you reach your stop, you may get ejected prematurely or you could perhaps defeat the ticket collectors and become the new reigning champion of the line and stay on board until the next champ to be slays you.
