People getting the care they need helps them?!?
HA ha
British Columbia had its municipal elections this weekend including school boards. The province has also in recent years introduced SOGI education to the curriculum. (Sexual orientation and gender identity).
I do not know of any medical procedure that has a 98% âYeah, I am glad I did that and will continue doing itâ None. The fact that there is a concerted effort to play up the 2% who do not fails to understand this simple fact. Absolutely nothing in medicine is 100%, but this is pretty damned close.
Hernia surgery. Maybe. And not much else.
I donât want to emphasize the 2% but I would like to see some careful scrutiny of them and what factors lead to their dissatisfaction. Transgender people are under enormous pressure to not be themselves, even after transitioning. How many of those 2% internalize the harassment and abuse they neither ask for nor deserve and turn it inward, blaming themselves?
Itâs already an extremely small number but imagine a world where every transgender individual gets the affirmation they deserve, where transgender people donât have to worry about losing their families just for being honest about who they are.
Maybe the number still wouldnât be zero but Iâd bet it would be damn close.
This is so true. A lot of people think dysphoria is required before transitioning⌠but weâve been learning that euphoria is an equally powerful signal. Seeing the woman within, experiencing joy looking in the mirror for the first time in your life is a powerful thing.
I take more selfies now in a day than I have over the course of years.
I have no pictures of my early adulthood.
The only ones I have prior to transition were taken by other people or include me with my kids since they liked taking selfies with me. Everything else is deleted and gone forever. That guy should never have existed.
